About MT-1

MT-1 (afamelanotide; [Nle4,D-Phe7]-α-MSH) is a potent synthetic 13-amino acid analog of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH) incorporating two key modifications: norleucine (Nle) substitution at position 4 in place of methionine (increasing oxidative stability) and a D-Phe substitution at position 7 (the critical pharmacophore residue), which dramatically increases receptor binding affinity and metabolic stability relative to native α-MSH.
