About MT-2
Melanotan II (MT-2) is a cyclic synthetic heptapeptide analog of α-MSH incorporating a lactam bridge between aspartic acid and lysine residues to constrain the peptide backbone into a pharmacologically active β-turn conformation. The molecule features an N-terminal norleucine residue for stability, a D-Phe residue at position 4 for enhanced MC receptor affinity (the His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp core constitutes the essential melanocortin pharmacophore), and a C-terminal hydroxyl rather than the amide found in bremelanotide (PT-141).
