About Sermorelin Acetate

Sermorelin is a synthetic 29-amino acid amide peptide corresponding to the biologically active N-terminal fragment of the 44-residue human growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH). The truncated sequence retains the critical N-terminal helix (residues 1–20) responsible for GHRH receptor binding and Gs-protein activation, while lacking the C-terminal extension of full-length GHRH(1-44). The C-terminal amide is essential for biological activity; free acid analogs exhibit markedly reduced receptor affinity. Sermorelin exhibits a shorter plasma half-life than synthetic GHRH analogs with DPP-IV protection modifications.

In research settings, sermorelin is widely used as a reference GHRH receptor agonist for pharmacological characterization of the pituitary GHRH receptor, adenylyl cyclase activation and cAMP accumulation assay standardization, and comparative potency studies between truncated and full-length GHRH analogs.
