About Dermorphin

Dermorphin is a naturally occurring 7-amino acid opioid peptide originally isolated from the skin secretions of South American frogs of the genus Phyllomedusa. The compound is distinguished by the presence of a D-alanine residue at position 2, which is an unusual D-amino acid configuration for a naturally occurring peptide. This D-Ala residue is critical for both high-affinity μ-opioid receptor (MOR) binding and metabolic stability; the corresponding L-Ala2 analog shows dramatically reduced receptor affinity. Dermorphin exhibits sub-nanomolar affinity for the μ-opioid receptor in radioligand binding assays.

Research applications of dermorphin include μ-opioid receptor pharmacology studies, radioligand binding competition assays for MOR characterization, investigation of D-amino acid peptide stability in peptidase assay systems, and structure-activity relationship studies examining the role of D-amino acids in opioid receptor recognition. The compound serves as an important pharmacological tool for understanding the structural requirements for μ-opioid receptor selectivity and is a reference standard in opioid receptor research. Provided for qualified laboratory research use only.

Lyophilized Research Peptides

This product is supplied in lyophilized (freeze-dried) form — a process that extends shelf life and preserves peptide purity and structural integrity during storage. No fillers, excipients, or preservatives are used in the lyophilization process. The lyophilized powder should be reconstituted with an appropriate research-grade solvent in a controlled laboratory environment prior to use in in vitro or preclinical assay systems.
