About PT-141

PT-141 (Bremelanotide) is a cyclic synthetic heptapeptide melanocortin receptor agonist derived from the MT-II (Melanotan II) scaffold. The molecule features a norleucine (Nle) substitution at position 4, a D-Phe residue at position 7 for enhanced receptor affinity and selectivity, and a lactam bridge between aspartic acid and lysine that constrains the backbone into a β-turn conformation essential for receptor engagement. PT-141 exhibits agonist activity at melanocortin receptor subtypes MC1R, MC3R, MC4R, and MC5R in binding assay systems.

Research investigations of PT-141 have characterized its binding affinity profile across melanocortin receptor subtypes, downstream cAMP signaling activation in heterologous expression systems, receptor selectivity relative to α-MSH and linear peptide analogs, and structure-activity relationships of the cyclic melanocortin pharmacophore. Scientific interest in MC4R-selective agonism has made this compound a frequently used tool in central melanocortin circuit research in preclinical models. This compound is provided for qualified laboratory research purposes only.

Lyophilized Research Peptides

This product is supplied in lyophilized (freeze-dried) form — a process that extends shelf life and preserves peptide purity and structural integrity during storage. No fillers, excipients, or preservatives are used in the lyophilization process. The lyophilized powder should be reconstituted with an appropriate research-grade solvent in a controlled laboratory environment prior to use in in vitro or preclinical assay systems.
