About Kisspeptin-10
Kisspeptin-10 (KP-10) is the 10-amino acid C-terminal active fragment of the full-length kisspeptin protein (also known as metastin), corresponding to residues 112–121 of the KISS1 gene product. The C-terminal RF-amide motif (Arg-Phe-NH₂) is conserved across all kisspeptin fragment lengths (KP-10, KP-13, KP-14, KP-54) and is essential for agonist activity at the kisspeptin receptor (KISS1R, also designated GPR54). The C-terminal amide is required for receptor binding affinity in pharmacological studies.
Research investigations of kisspeptin-10 have focused on its receptor pharmacology at KISS1R, including binding affinity determination (Kd values), downstream Gq/11-protein coupling and IP₃ pathway activation in receptor expression systems, and concentration-response characterization in hypothalamic cell models.
