About SNAP-8

SNAP-8 (Acetyl Octapeptide-3) is a synthetic 8-amino acid peptide with the sequence Ac-Glu-Glu-Met-Gln-Arg-Arg-Ala-Asp-NH₂, designed as a competitive antagonist analog of the N-terminal domain of SNAP-25 (synaptosomal-associated protein 25 kDa), a key component of the SNARE complex involved in neurotransmitter vesicle fusion at neuromuscular junctions. By competitively interfering with SNAP-25 incorporation into the SNARE complex in vitro, SNAP-8 is proposed to modulate acetylcholine exocytosis efficiency in controlled cell-free and cell-based assay systems.
